Oh, my!! It’ s been almost a decade since the last time I tried to write something. I have some kind of writer’s syndrome, sometimes called the “blank page syndrome” or plainly known as shiftlesness. It’s not that I don’t have the time to put together a couple of words just to save the day, it’s that I am more of a reader and, of course, I am also (as you may have noticed) quite a lengthy poster. Ok, I’ll try to come up with a better excuse the next time. I am open to suggestions in the “reader’s corner”, elsewhere known as Comments.
That said, lots of things have happened in the meantime. First of all, an old companion has gone for good. After more than one and a half years, she said enough is enough and refused to perform like she used to. So I said, so far so good. It’s incredible the close relationship you get to build with your dvd burner. Welcome to my life, brand new LG 4167.
While my disc burning life was undergoing one of those low moments you have to suffer sometimes, more merrier things took place in my life. And indeed they were, because past November 23th, we (Eva and me) celebrated our 9th anniversary. This is the moment, so my friend Eoin says, you have to either marry or upgrade but, what the fuck, isn’t it great when your relationship just flows naturally towards its destination? And flowing we did. We took off to some coastal resort in Eastern Asturias, where we enjoyed some really worth remembering hours, including our excursion to a renowned restaurant in the middle of nowhere just to find it was closed. I am really looking forward to repeating the experience, that is, the day off, not the go-and-find-the-fucking-restaurant activity.
I’ll upload some pictures one of these days. If that damn free server I subscribed to decides working is worth the effort.
Totally unconnected, last week we had the Gijón International Film Festival, and I dared go to watch a movie with Marcos, a friend of his and a Swedish guy I had to monopolise because we was starting to suffer from urticaria after some days trying to translate into a properly understandable language the gibberish people were speaking at him. Have you ever noticed how poorly we Spanish people speak English? Maybe some day our political class (those illuminati) will find it convenient for us to be part of the civilised world. Fuck’s sake, even their English is usually despicable. As Marcos sometimes says: “¡País!” (it more or less means “what a country we live in”, empashising its contradictions and, sometimes, foolishness).
I guess it’s enough for today. I don’t want the inexistent reader to suicide yet, we still have to get together through this nightmare some fools call life. Be ready, you never know when this waste land might come into your screen again.
I should be receiving this week A Song of Ice and Fire vol. 2, that is A Clash of Kings , so consider that a pre-excuse in case our next instalment gets delayed. You’ve been warned.
Next time we’ll be discussing “how to become a teacher and not die trying”, “friendship, is it more than you bargained for?” and one of my latest favourite topics, translation. Doesn’t it sound great?
A final word, if you haven’t seen the show House, I recommend you to give it a try, that guy has become my idol.
